Welcome to Great Indie Movies
When most people think of Indianapolis they think of the Indy 500, the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers, etc. What people don’t know is that we have so many cultural things to be proud of, including our ample number of film festivals. I am proud to say that I am involved with the two largest – the Indy Film Fest which is a ten-day event in July and the Heartland Film Festival which is a ten-day event in October. Both film festivals draw great crowds but both are vastly different in their approaches to film selection, thus drawing very different crowds.
As a Board member of Middlewest Film Institute, I will get the honor of spending the next three days working alongside my colleagues to bring free panels related to varying filmmaking topics to people who are interested in learning more about filmmaking. I hope you find some of our panel topics to be engaging and can join us over the next few days for some lively conversations with filmmakers, critics and industry experts!
