My daughter recently turned 12 and wanted an Instagram party. Of course, the first place I went for inspiration was Instagram. I found lots of ideas but also didn’t want to spend a fortune on props knowing that I could easily create them myself. So, I set off to create files that would not only be useful for her party but also for others to use for their special events. Most of the files that I found on Etsy cost $40USD or more so I created my own version that I printed at Walgreens one hour with excellent results.
I built the template in Photoshop but will also make them available for edits in PowerPoint so those of you who don’t have Photoshop can still edit the files.
FAQs BASED ON QUESTIONS:
Frame Size: 5x7.5, Photoshop resolution = 240.
Printing: I was able to use this to create a finished product of 20x30 (board print) and it was a high-quality print. You should be able to create other sizes with similar resizing proportions. The cost was $34.99 but they typically run specials and I believe I got mine much cheaper. Other stores like CVS, Sam’s Club, Costco, etc. should offer the same services and may be less expensive.
Fonts: Helvetica Neue Regular and Gotham Book; if you don’t have these fonts installed, I would suggest going with free Google Fonts…they have a ton that are amazing and very similar to both of these (I would suggest Roboto or Open Sans…both have condensed versions as well).
Cutting out the Center: I just used a box knife and ruler to cut out the center. Easy peasy.
I believe I had originally limited the download (my apologies) but it is open to freely download now.
Step 1 — Download the Photoshop file from here (note this file is pretty large due to the images): DOWNLOAD PSD
Step 2 — Open thePhotoshop file
Step 3 — Follow the instructions in the visual below
Step 4 — Upload the image to a print shop, like Walgreens. Mine cost about $29 for a 20×30 posterboard.
Step 5 — Using a box or Exacto knife, cut out the gray box
Step 6 — Enjoy your new Instagram photo frame!
Step 1 — Download the PowerPoint file from here: DOWNLOAD PPT
Step 2 — Open the PowerPoint file
Step 3 — Follow the instructions in the visual below
EDIT FROM A USER ON STEP 4 BELOW: Click the ‘file’ button, go to ‘save as’ and where it says ‘save as type’ you want to select the ‘jpeg interchange format’ and then click save. This will then prompt you by saying ‘do you want to export every slide in the presentation or only the current slide’ you need to click ‘current slide only’, this will save the whole image to your photos and then you can upload it where you want to print it
Step 4 — Upload the image to a print shop, like Walgreens.
Step 5 — Using a box or Exacto knife, cut out the gray box
Step 6 — Enjoy your new Instagram photo frame!
Has anyone downloaded the file? I am a chicken as it is to big for my computer to virus scan.
Thanks so much for being generous and sharing your DIY Instagram Photo Booth! I used the PPT file for a Girlfriend’s wedding shower last weekend & a 50th birthday party this weekend. Worked great & the crowd loved it : )
Thank you for sharing this awesome instagram frame template… How about facebook? 😉
This was so amazing and helpful! Mine came out great, a word of advice though for those using the PPT tutorial version, you do not select all and right click to save, this only gives you a portion of the picture and not the whole thing. Instead you must click the ‘file’ button, go to ‘save as’ and where it says ‘save as type’ you want to select the ‘jpeg interchange format’ and then click save. This will then prompt you by saying ‘do you want to export every slide in the presentation or only the current slide’ you need to click ‘current slide only’, this will save the whole image to your photos and then you can upload it where you want to print it, yay! I used Walgreens as suggested and it came out amazingly well! Another word of advice if you go through Walgreens, upload your photo and when you are ready to make your board, make sure you select the poster board option and select the size you want in landscape setting and then add your picture. I attempted to add the picture first and then adjust the size and it just was not working! I hope this helps, have fun with this project, it comes out amazing! Thank you so much for this!
Thanks Patricia for your advice on how to save image from PowerPoint. I ordered the 20×30″ print from Vivyxprinting.com for about $15 so let’s see how it will turn out.
And thank you Julie for this great tutorial which I’m sure is bound to be a hit at our upcoming party!!!!
when I uploaded to Walgreens following these instructions, it says low resolution. Any suggestions?

OOPS! I see now! I’m tired 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing your files. Very generous! I used the PPT file & it worked perfectly. With a coupon from Walgreens, it cost a little less than $20 for a 24×36″ poster.
So glad it worked out for you!
Did you have to put it on foam board or anything?
